The dominant flavor is raspberry, and there is plenty of that to be found in this zinfandel. The aroma of this wine is alive with jammy red fruits and blackberries. The finish of this wine is as fruity as is the flavor, with raspberries and blueberries being the most obvious. The berry aromas continue into the flavor where they merge with oak and vanilla. The aromas of blackberries and summer fruits seem to fill the room when the cork is pulled and the wine poured. Like the Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is a return to the wines styles of old the same wines that brought the initial fame to the grape variety but with a California twist. The Folie à Deux 2006 Napa Valley Chardonnay is a truly California wine: big, flavorful and thoroughly enjoyable.įolie à Deux 2008 Napa Valley Merlot ($17). The finish exhibits the much sought after buttery feel in the mouth, the sign of a better chardonnay. There is also a very pleasant under flavor of oak, which, when combined with a near perfect acid level, result in a wine of classical dimensions.

There was no invitation to explore the property either (there was a courtyard beyond the tasting room).It’s always great when you run into an old friend and if that old friend happens to be a wine it might be even better. The wine was pleasant, but no great value. The staff was not friendly or attentive we were not acknowledged for several minutes, and even once we were given wines to taste, there was no attempt to describe or "sell" the wine. You will not be disappointed!įirst we drink there wines at home, but the tasting was not that great, mostly because of the staff was not friendly or seamed to care if we were there or not?
